Ingredients

Scale

Base Ingredients

  • 3 cups frozen hash browns (thawed)
  • 1 ½ cups ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cups marinara or tomato sauce

Meat and Aromatics

  • 1 pound ground beef or ground turkey (optional)
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

Seasonings and Others

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the meat sauce: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Sauté diced onions and minced garlic until fragrant and translucent. Add ground beef or turkey and cook until browned, breaking it apart while cooking. Stir in marinara sauce and Italian seasoning, then let the sauce simmer gently for 5-10 minutes to blend the flavors.
  2. Layer the ingredients: Spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom of a baking dish. Evenly layer a generous amount of thawed frozen hash browns over the sauce. Add dollops of ricotta cheese on top, then sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses. Repeat these layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with a cheese layer on top.
  3. Bake the lasagne: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 40 minutes. Remove the foil and continue baking for another 10-15 minutes until the cheese is golden brown, bubbly, and the edges are crispy.
  4. Rest before serving: Remove the lasagne from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes. This resting time allows the layers to set, making it easier to slice and serve.

Notes

  • Use thawed hash browns to prevent excess moisture and ensure crispiness.
  • Do not skip the resting time for clean, firm slices.
  • Add fresh herbs like basil or parsley on top for enhanced flavor and color.
  • Mix different cheeses such as cheddar, provolone, or goat cheese for varied taste and texture.
  • Maintain oven temperature at 375°F to avoid burning cheese before cooking through.
