Ingredients

Scale

Base Ingredients

  • 2 ounces London Dry gin (or botanical-forward gin)
  • 1 ounce fresh lemon juice
  • 0.75 ounces simple syrup

Other Ingredients

  • Crushed ice (enough to fill glass halfway + glass filling after shaking)
  • 0.5 ounces blackberry liqueur or syrup
  • Fresh blackberries (optional, for garnish)
  • Lemon wheel or twist (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Your Glass: Fill a rocks glass halfway with crushed ice to chill the glass and prepare it for the cocktail.
  2. Mix the Base: In a shaker, combine 2 ounces gin, 1 ounce fresh lemon juice, and 0.75 ounces simple syrup. Add ice and shake vigorously to blend and chill the mixture thoroughly.
  3. Strain Over Ice: Strain the shaken mixture into the prepared rocks glass filled with fresh crushed ice to keep the drink cold without diluting it too fast.
  4. Add Blackberry Drizzle: Slowly pour 0.5 ounces of blackberry liqueur or syrup over the top to create the signature layered “bramble” effect, allowing the syrup to drift through the cocktail.
  5. Garnish and Serve: Add a few fresh blackberries and a lemon wheel or twist to finish, enhancing aroma and visual appeal.

Notes

  • Always use fresh lemon juice for the brightest and most authentic flavor.
  • Crush your ice properly to chill the cocktail quickly and maintain texture.
  • Pour the blackberry syrup slowly over the top to create a stunning visual effect.
  • Experiment with different gin brands for unique botanical flavor profiles.
  • Chill your glass in the freezer before making the cocktail for longer-lasting coldness.
