Ingredients

Scale

Dough Ingredients

  • 3 1/2 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons Active Dry Yeast (1 packet)
  • 1/4 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1 cup Milk, lukewarm
  • 1/4 cup Unsalted Butter, melted
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract

Filling Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups Fresh Strawberries, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup Strawberry Jam

Glaze Ingredients

  • 1 cup Powdered Sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon Vanilla Extract

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough: Warm the milk until lukewarm. Activate the yeast by dissolving it with a small amount of sugar and warm water. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, the yeast mixture, salt, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Mix and knead until the dough is soft and elastic. Cover with a clean towel and let it rise for about 1 hour, until doubled in size.
  2. Make the Strawberry Filling: While the dough is rising, finely chop the fresh strawberries and mix them thoroughly with the strawberry jam to create a sweet and fruity filling.
  3. Roll and Fill the Dough: After the dough has risen, gently punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface into a large rectangle. Spread the strawberry filling evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
  4. Shape and Slice the Rolls: Starting at one long side, roll the dough tightly into a log. Slice the log into even rolls approximately 1 to 1.5 inches thick. Place the rolls cut-side up in a greased baking pan lined with parchment paper, spacing them slightly apart.
  5. Second Rise and Bake: Allow the rolls to rise again for 30 to 45 minutes. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 20 to 25 minutes until golden brown and cooked through; the filling should bubble slightly.
  6. Prepare the Glaze and Serve: While the rolls cool, whisk powdered sugar with milk and vanilla extract until smooth. Drizzle the glaze generously over the warm rolls and serve.

Notes

  • Use room temperature ingredients to ensure an even rise.
  • Allow enough time for the dough to rise; slow fermentation yields fluffier rolls.
  • Use fresh, ripe strawberries for optimal flavor and texture.
  • Seal the dough edges tightly to avoid filling leakage during baking.
  • Keep an eye on the oven during baking to prevent burning, especially around the edges.
