Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground chicken
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese (reserve 1/4 cup for topping)
  • 1 tablespoon ranch seasoning mix
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs (use gluten-free breadcrumbs for gluten-free option)
  • 1 large egg
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Olive oil or cooking spray, for cooking
  • 4 burger buns (brioche, whole wheat, or sesame seed; gluten-free buns for gluten-free option)

Optional Toppings

  • Lettuce
  • Sliced tomato
  • Pickles
  • Avocado slices
  • Ranch dressing

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Patty Mixture: In a large bowl, combine ground chicken, ranch seasoning, breadcrumbs, egg, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Mix everything gently but thoroughly to avoid tough burgers. Fold in shredded cheddar cheese, reserving a small amount for topping later.
  2. Form and Chill Patties: Divide the mixture into four even portions and shape each into round patties about ¾ inch thick. Place the patties on a plate and refrigerate for 10-15 minutes to help them hold together during cooking.
  3. Cook the Burgers: Heat a drizzle of olive oil in a skillet over medium heat or preheat your grill. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes per side, turning carefully. In the last minute of cooking, sprinkle the reserved cheddar cheese on top so it melts deliciously over the chicken.
  4. Assemble and Serve: Lightly toast the burger buns. Layer each bun with a cooked patty and your favorite toppings such as lettuce, tomato, pickles, or avocado. Serve immediately alongside your chosen side dishes for a complete and satisfying meal.

Notes

  • Don’t skip chilling: Refrigerate patties before cooking to prevent crumbling and ensure they hold together.
  • Use fresh cheese: Freshly shredded cheddar melts better and tastes more vibrant than pre-shredded cheese.
  • Handle patties gently: Overmixing or pressing them too much can make burgers dense and tough.
  • Check internal temperature: Cook chicken burgers until they reach 165°F for safety and juiciness.
  • Toast buns: Lightly toasting buns adds crunch and prevents sogginess from juicy patties.
