Ingredients

Scale

Shrimp

  • 1 lb peeled and deveined medium to large shrimp

Sauce and Seasonings

  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Cooking

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Shrimp: Rinse the shrimp thoroughly and pat them dry with paper towels to ensure they sear properly. Lightly season the shrimp with salt and pepper to create an even flavor base.
  2. Sauté the Shrimp: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the shrimp in a single layer and cook for about 2 minutes per side, or until the shrimp turn pink and curl slightly. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Make the Hot Honey Sauce: In the same skillet, melt the butter. Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 30 seconds to 1 minute. Stir in the honey, red pepper flakes, and fresh lemon juice. Cook and stir the sauce gently until it thickens into a glossy glaze.
  4. Combine and Glaze: Return the cooked shrimp to the skillet and toss gently in the hot honey sauce, coating each piece thoroughly. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until the shrimp are heated through and well glazed.
  5. Serve Immediately: Transfer the glazed shrimp to a serving dish. Garnish as desired with fresh herbs, sesame seeds, or green onions. Serve hot to enjoy the sticky, flavorful coating at its best.

Notes

  • Don’t overcook shrimp to maintain tender texture.
  • Use fresh garlic and lemon juice for best flavor impact.
  • Adjust red pepper flakes to balance heat to your preference.
  • If sauce is too thin, simmer longer to thicken before adding shrimp back.
  • Serve the shrimp warm, as the glaze hardens when cool.
