Learn how to make perfectly tender, juicy grilled lobster tails with a smoky char and buttery richness using simple ingredients and easy grilling techniques. This recipe promises restaurant-quality seafood right in your backyard, perfect for impressing guests or enjoying a quick gourmet meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Seafood

  • 4 fresh lobster tails (thawed, still cold)

Butter Mixture

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste

Garnish

  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Lobster Tails: Use kitchen shears to carefully cut through the top shell of each lobster tail, stopping just before the tail fin. Gently lift the lobster meat and rest it on top of the shell to ensure even cooking and optimal smoky grill flavor absorption.
  2. Make the Butter Mixture: In a small bowl, melt the butter over low heat. Stir in the minced garlic, fresh lemon juice, paprika, salt, and black pepper until well combined to create a luxurious basting sauce.
  3. Preheat Your Grill: Heat your grill to medium-high, approximately 400°F (200°C). Ensure the grates are clean and lightly oiled to prevent the lobster from sticking.
  4. Grill the Lobster Tails: Place the lobster tails meat-side up on the grill. Brush generously with the butter mixture. Close the grill lid and cook for about 5-7 minutes. Then brush once more with butter and grill for an additional 2-3 minutes or until the lobster meat is opaque and slightly charred.
  5. Garnish and Serve: Remove the lobster tails from the grill and immediately brush with any remaining butter sauce. Sprinkle freshly chopped parsley over the tails for a pop of color and fresh herbal flavor. Serve promptly.

Notes

  • Don’t overcook lobster tails as the meat can become rubbery quickly; remove once opaque and firm.
  • Butter baste often to lock in moisture and build layers of flavor.
  • Use a combination of direct heat for searing and indirect heat to finish cooking gently.
  • Prep lobster properly by cutting and lifting the meat to prevent curling and ensure even grilling.
  • Opt for fresh or high-quality frozen lobster tails for the best taste and texture.
