Dill Pickle Pasta Salad is a uniquely refreshing and satisfying dish combining creamy textures with crunchy dill pickles and fresh vegetables. Perfect for summer barbecues, quick dinners, or any meal needing a tangy zing, this salad offers a fun blend of flavors that’s both memorable and irresistible.

Ingredients

Scale

Pasta

  • 2 cups elbow macaroni or small shells

Vegetables & Herbs

  • 1 cup finely chopped dill pickles
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped celery
  • 1/4 cup finely diced red onion
  • 2 tablespoons fresh dill, minced

Dressing

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon mustard
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook the Pasta: Boil the pasta in salted water until al dente. Drain and rinse under cold water to stop cooking and cool it down.
  2. Prepare the Vegetables: While the pasta cools, finely chop dill pickles, celery, and red onion. Mince fresh dill to distribute flavor evenly.
  3. Make the Dressing: In a bowl, combine mayonnaise, mustard, salt, and black pepper. Whisk until smooth and creamy.
  4. Mix Ingredients: In a large bowl, gently toss pasta with chopped veggies. Pour the dressing on top and mix carefully until everything is well coated without mashing.
  5. Chill and Serve: Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow flavors to meld. Serve chilled for the perfect balance of tangy, creamy, and crunchy textures.

Notes

  • Drain pickles well to prevent sogginess.
  • Do not overcook pasta; al dente holds texture better.
  • For a lighter dressing, mix half mayonnaise and half Greek yogurt.
  • Allow the salad to chill fully to enhance flavor depth.
  • Use fresh dill instead of dried for brighter flavor.
