This elegant and effortless Beef Carpaccio is ready in under 15 minutes, perfect for impressing guests with a fresh, vibrant, and flavorful starter.

Ingredients

Scale

Beef

  • 200g high-quality beef (eye fillet or sirloin), chilled and sliced very thin

Dressing

  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice

Toppings

  • 50g parmesan cheese, thinly shaved
  • 30g arugula leaves
  • 1 tbsp capers
  • Sea salt, to taste
  • Freshly cracked black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Beef: Place the high-quality beef in the freezer for 30 to 60 minutes to firm it up, making it easier to slice paper-thin. Using a sharp knife, cut the beef into very thin slices against the grain to maximize tenderness.
  2. Arrange the Beef: Carefully spread the thin beef slices evenly on a large serving plate, slightly overlapping them to form a beautiful, flat layer that will serve as the base of the dish.
  3. Add the Dressing: Drizzle extra virgin olive oil and freshly squeezed lemon juice generously over the beef. This adds flavor and slightly cures the raw meat.
  4. Add Toppings: Sprinkle sea salt and freshly cracked black pepper evenly over the beef. Scatter capers, arugula leaves, and thin parmesan shavings on top for color, texture, and flavor contrast.
  5. Final Touch: Allow the dish to rest for 5 minutes so the flavors meld together. Serve immediately to preserve the fresh texture of the beef and ingredients.

Notes

  • Choose fresh beef suitable for raw consumption from a trusted butcher.
  • Freeze the beef before slicing to achieve thin, uniform slices.
  • Use a very sharp knife for clean slices to preserve texture.
  • Season just before serving to avoid drawing out moisture prematurely.
  • Use high-quality olive oil and freshly squeezed lemon juice for best flavor.
  • Arrange slices and toppings thoughtfully for an attractive presentation.
